With women's professional soccer on hiatus, FSE organized the Celebration of Women's Soccer charity match at the Maryland SoccerPlex in 2011, drawing 2,112 fans.

The event was “ghost shopped” by the future owner of the Washington Spirit and helped validate the launch of the NWSL.
